BURKE EDWARDS - CALIFORNIA
Originally from Maryland, Burke started wrestling at age 6 and competed for Sherwood High School (1999-2003). As a competitor, he was a 4x State Qualifier and a 3x State Placer with a 66-3 record his junior and senior years. He chose not to wrestle in college having already received a full scholarship through the Navy's ROTC program. As an official, he is in his third year with the Southern California Wrestling Officials Association. He claims that wrestling is in his blood and he enjoys being around the sport in any capacity. The talented youth wrestlers and overall professionalism of the events have motivated him to officiate for RMN. It's also an opportunity to learn from more experienced officials.

HARRY ADLER, CALIFORNIA
My wrestling experience before officiating includes 3 years in high school and 4 years in college as a competitor. After that I served as an assistant coach for a year at Alhambra High School. I have been officiating wrestling for 36 years and volleyball for 26 years, although wrestling is my main focus. I just love this sport. I enjoy working the RMN Wrestling events because it gives me more exposure to excellent athletic competition as well as great officials. These officials have helped me become a better official by sharing their knowledge and experience. More mat tine with great competitors and outstanding officials is a winning combination.

RICH CUNNINGHAM, CALIFORNIA
I wrestled for Don Lugo High School in Chino, CA, graduating class of 2004. Before a serious back injury ended my competitive career, I was 2-time Baseline League champion. After my injury, I started refereeing to stay close to the sport I love. Along with working for CIF in the Foothill Association, I have officiated for USA Wrestling, RMN, SOMAR and have worked the U.S. Open 2X, the World Police and Fire Games, California Association Duals, The Battle on Midway and The Battle on the Boardwalk. For USA Wrestling, I officiated the Schoolboy/Girl National Duals, CA State Finals for Folk, Greco and Freestyle in all age groups - 10 times. In addition, I have done the USA Super Tourney, the Mex Games, as well as several youth events including SOMAR Wrestling and Beat the Streets events.
For RMN, I have worked Reno Rumble, USA Folk Style Showcase, and USA National Duals. RMN events have been amazing to be a part of. They are so well-organized and efficiently run, always have some of the best youth competition I've seen, and always embrace fairness and good sportsmanship. Wrestling gives individuals self-discipline, self-confidence, a healthy lifestyle, and lifelong friendships. RMN events promote / grow the sport and allow our youth to safely participate in the greatest and oldest sport known to man. I love being a part of the RMN machine and would like to thank all the other parts which make RMN events happen.

MATT DRAPER, CALIFORNIA
Wrestled for Poway High School in San Diego, CA (2007-2011)
Wrestled for Poway Slammers (kids program through middle school years)
Wrestling Official for San Diego County Wrestling Officials Association (2011- Current)
Assistant Coach for El Cajon Valley High School (2014-2016)
Wrestling taught me Humility, Pride, Pain, and Truth. The struggles of this sport conditioned me to strive to be a person of excellence, but more importantly how to take my losses. I began officiating as a way to contribute back to the sport and found out how much fun tournaments are when you're not cutting weight! My goal as an official is to be both Subtle and Present in the match; to be Approachable and Calm toward coaches; and maintain the Flow of the match to the benefit of the Wrestlers. Awarding points is easy. Controlling the mat through Clarity and Consistency; this is the real challenge of Officiating. I am very grateful to RMN Events for creating these opportunities for wrestlers, coaches, and officials to experience. "Iron sharpens iron," an old coach once told me. You will find the iron at RMN Events.

TRINIDAD GALLARDO, CALIFORNIA
I wrestled at Hueneme High school my sophomore, junior year & senior years. In the 2004-05 season, my senior year, I was captain of the wrestling team. I have been officiating wrestling since the 2005/06 season. I have been a volunteer Referee with the local middle school league since 2006 to present. I love to have the best view of matches by hustling to position & keeping student athletes safe, sound & motivated. I have a very good rapport with the local coaches in SoCal. I have been invited to officiate with other associations.
Last year I officiated Los Angeles City CIF Finals, the first-place qualifier which ascends to State. I continually learn from my fellow officials and from coaches. I keep an open mind and am receptive with their suggestions, advice and training. I continually study, read and attend clinics to hone my officiating skills. On a personal level, I train submission grappling & spar kickboxing at KO Boxing in Oxnard.

GARY SAUNDERS, CALIFORNIA
I began wrestling at the age of 8 and wrestled through high school. Some of my coaching influences include Dr. Pat McCormick and Billy Martin Jr. I began officiating in 1992 in Los Angeles and have been blessed to have an enjoyable and traveled officiating career that includes officiating individual national champions and various tournaments throughout the country. These include multiple California State high school and college championships, national tournaments such as 5 Counties, The Virginia Duals National Invitational, NHSCA Nationals in Virginia Beach, The Disney Duals nationals, Super 32 preseason nationals, the Black Hills Nationals, the Reno Worlds and Megatron. I enjoy the opportunity to meet and get to know referees from around the country and learn from each other's regional styles and rule interpretations.

DEJAN SAVICH, CALIFORNIA
I wrestled in high school for Tustin (CA). After graduating, I took a break from wrestling to work, but I missed wrestling, so I decided to go back to school and wrestle in college. My wrestling career would come to an end pretty quickly due to multiple concussions I sustained in practice. A few years later my college coach and I met up; he introduced me to the local referee association.
Thus I was able to come back to the sport I loved as a contributor. I view my new role as one of the best roles someone can ask for ... I get to have the best seat in the house and still be a part of the sport which I love. Based on my history, I strive to be proactive, looking out after the kids who wrestle by keeping the competition safe and fun. I can't wait to see how RMN can expand my experience to new regions!

PHIL SCOTT, CALIFORNIA
I have been officiating for 17 years in the California Interscholastic Federation. I have officiated in a lot of high level tournaments Battle of the Beach, Riverside County Wrestling Tourney, Upland Blackwatch Tourney, Five Counties Wrestling Tourney, CIF Girls Championships, CIF Boys Championships. I also have done CA-USA Freestyle and Folkstyle Championships.

TODD WILSON, CALIFORNIA
Currently in his 3rd season as a middle school wrestling coach, Todd is a 2-time Illinois high school state qualifier, 2-time Illinois high school state freestyle placer, and he attended the Olympic Training Camp in 1978. He has officiated a number of RMN events, including four Freak Shows and the Rumble in Reno, as well as the California CIF twice. Todd’s favorite wrestling quote is: “The winner is the one who can accept defeat; his good sportsmanship tells that only in score was he beat. He’ll always be a winner, in this he can take pride, if deep in his heart he knows that he really tried.”
Why I appreciate working RMN Events: 1) The opening ceremony with Ed expressing that the Good Lord is paramount to life in general. 2) The fellow RMN officials have been so supportive, offering constructive criticism to help making me a better official for the sport we love. 3) Witnessing the young wrestlers so fundamentally sound, it’s an honor to officiate their matches! I’m not sure how many years I have left officiating, but I am focused on perfecting my craft and enjoying the journey!

MARC YANEZ, CALIFORNIA
My background in wrestling began as a wrestler in High School for 4 years. Years later I volunteered as an assistant coach for Claremont High School for one year. After that I joined the wrestling officials' association for 13 years to date. I have learned so much in this sport that I totally enjoy.
I enjoyed the RMN Rumble in Reno event due to exposure to great competition and the opportunity to learn from other out-of-state officials and get their input. Tournaments I have worked include: Rumble in Reno, Nogales Super Champs, Upland Black Watch, Bob Bellot Classic, and many other smaller boy/girls tournaments such as Beat the Streets. I have also volunteered to work the Masters 3X.

JOSE ZUNIGA, CALIFORNIA
Going into high school, I did not know what sport to try out for. I assumed that water polo would be the right fit for me; I was wrong. I attended one practice and knew that it was not the sport for me. As I left the practice, I asked the water polo coach where the wrestling room was at. Attending Bell Gardens High School in California during the mid-90’s, their wrestling room was located upstairs overlooking the football field.
The day after my first and only water polo experienced, I went to the wrestling room. Unfortunately, there was no practice scheduled for that day as the wrestlers were about to go to a summer tournament. I was advised to come back the following week for the next scheduled practice. When I came back, I got my butt handed to me, but I knew that I found what I enjoyed. I wrestled my four years in high school and enjoyed every minute of it. Practices were hard as they should be, but it was to prepare us for our matches. After high school I attended practices here and there, but never fully committed as I did while in high school.
Seven years ago, an old wrestling buddy of mine asked if I was available on the weekends and if I would be interested in refereeing high school wrestling. I was skeptical at first, but once I started attending the refereeing meetings, the love for the sport came back. My experience as a referee has always been positive, plus I have the best seat in the house.
I have worked two RMN events, one in Reno and the other in Anaheim. My experience has always been positive; being able to work with other officials from across the United States is always a plus and a learning experience. We work as a team and help one another, plus RMN shows us great hospitality. I look forward to continuing working with RMN, as well as being part of the development of this awesome sport we know as wrestling.
